grace + david | mt woodson castle | san diego wedding photography
This fun couple met at their University…David being a graduate student and Grace finishing her under-graduate studies. They happened to have a mutual friend that introduced them at the library and they became instant friends.
These two incorporated a Korean ceremony {or P’ye-baek} after the traditional American ceremony that was full of laughs. Here the bride offers dates and chestnuts — symbols of children — to the groom’s parents, while sitting at a low table filled with other symbolic offerings. The parents offer sake in return, and as a final gesture they throw the dates and chestnuts at the bride, who tries to catch them in her large wedding skirt…foretelling of how many children the two will have! The family also sits across offering marital wisdom and gifts of money in white envelopes. It was cool to be a part of a cultural experience and capture their day!
