jennifer + chad | san diego zoo + coronado engagement session

We’ve gotten to know Chad + Jennifer pretty well over the past few weeks with their e-session, and then over some great burgers and beer and we just love their style! We’re really looking forward to their wedding next month and getting to know all their family and crazy friends! 😉 Jennifer shared their proposal story with us, which I think takes the cake!

“Chad proposed to me at home during the week after work. We had a running joke for at least three months where Chad told me if I made him (and perfected) a bread pudding dessert, then he would “put a ring on my finger”. Chad loves his desserts! In March, my mother was out in San Diego visiting us and Chad loves a family recipe crumb cake. He asked me to make the cake and said “maybe we will substitute the crumb cake for the bread pudding if you make it perfect (haha)”. So, I made the dessert. A few nights later, when I got home from work there was a rose sitting on the cake tray. I thought it was sweet, but didn’t really look into it further. A few minutes later, I went back into the kitchen and looked at the rose, and it was a beautiful rose from a florist with a card attached. Chad never gives or likes to receive cards, so I thought it was blank inside! I opened it anyway. On the top line, it read “crumb cake was awesome”. I didn’t read further and thought it was so sweet to get a rose for making him the dessert. Then I read more and it said “Will you marry me?” I thought it was part of our joke! When I looked at him, he had this serious face on and said “I’m serious”. Of course I broke down and cried and don’t really remember all the nice things he said 🙂 I eventually said yes…through the sobs…and the rest is history.
